Abeiku Santana expresses disappointment in the passage of E-Levy

Popular Ghanaian media personality, Abeiku Santana, has detailed why he is disappointed in the passage of E-Levy.

On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the Majority in Parliament passed the E-Levy bill after the Minority walked out.

The bill has now been assented to into law by President Akufo-Addo.

Ghanaians are expected to pay 1.5 per cent on electronic transactions.

Commenting on this during a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz which Newshuntermag.com has come across, the renowned presenter expressed his disappointment.

His disappointment comes after the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia said on Peace FM some time ago that MoMo won’t be taxed.

According to him, taxes are supposed to be paid based on how much someone earns.

To his dismay, in Ghana, both the poor and rich are paying the same taxes.

He wished Ghanaians will mount pressure for something to be done about the E-Levy.

Abeiku Santana also raised a concern about how accountable the government will be after the passage of the E-Levy.
