It’s work, record labels are not favouring artistes – Mr Drew argues

Ghanaian artiste, Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, popularly known as Mr Drew, has said record labels are not favouring artistes.

He stated in a recent interview that people should not see it in a way that artistes are favoured when they are signed onto record labels.

The ‘Mood’ composer argued that it is a work between artistes and record labels.

According to him, these record labels will take their share when they start earning money.

“If somebody is on a label to work, it’s work. Don’t see it as the label is giving you the platform or the opportunity. You are there to work and when the money starts coming in, the label is going to take their cut. So, it’s not some sort of grace or favour they are rendering to you,” Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb’s Talkertainment.

Mr Drew made this statement following the end of his working relationship with Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual Music.
