Creed III actor, Jonathan Majors, has been released from custody.

The American actor was arrested on strangulation, assault and harassment charges.

Majors’ arrest comes after his involvement in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman on Saturday.

The New York Police Department confirmed his arrest.

“The victim informed police she was assaulted,” a police spokesperson stated.

The Creed III actor was briefly taken into custody. Meanwhile, his representative has denied any wrongdoing.

According to the NYPD, they received a 911 call from an apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea district around 11:14 local time.

They added that the woman at the centre of the case was taken to hospital after suffering minor head and neck injuries.

An NYPD spokesperson told the Associated Press news agency that Jonathan Majors was released from custody by Saturday night.

Majors’ representative told the LA Times: “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”

His arrest was on the back of his presentation of an award at the Oscars a few weeks ago.

He got a breakthrough in 2019’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco, before going on to star in Netflix western The Harder They Fall and Marvel Comics film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Majors played Jordan’s adversary in Creed III, a boxing film released earlier this month.
