Well-known Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo has made a passionate plea to the government of Ghana over dialysis treatment in the country.
In a post on social media, the defeated NDC parliamentary candidate in the 2020 elections in Ghana called on the government to include the price of dialysis treatment under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
He thinks that will ease the burdens of affected people who are to go for such treatment.
Mr Dumelo took to Twitter to make this appeal. It was after an image of the price of dialysis treatment being increased at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital went viral.
The dialysis treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, per the viral photo, had shot up from GHS 380 to GHS 765.
“Dialysis treatment should be included under the NHIS. It can be done,” John Dumelo tweeted.
His post has been lauded by many of his followers online.
